M-rated games coming to the Wii are expected to be criticized and contested. Manhunt 2, in particular, is receiving much word from anti-game lawyers. In an interview by Fox News, Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum talked about the game's Wii version requiring players to slash and stab using the Wiimote. When talking about violent video games and lawyers, it's almost inevitable to include Jack Thompson's name. This time, he's the one who sparked the issue by sending a letter to McCollum and Florida Governor Charlie Crist. The letter said: Florida retailers are scheduled to sell a very violent video game called Manhunt 2 which will be available, remarkably, for “play†on the kids-friendly Nintendo Wii gaming platform. The Wii device does not utilize traditional push button game controllers but instead utilizes hand-held motion capture devices… It is a training device. http://wii.qj.net/Jack-Thompson-cal...-device-Florida-lawyer-agrees/pg/49/aid/94734 I think someone needs to get a grip on reality here.. but it makes for some good publicity. I expect sales will go thru the roof now!
so now players have to physically stab instead of hit the R1 on a ps2 to stab someone... It's all the same principal, and I dont think there is a new argument.. If killing in games was okay in video games while pushing buttons it should be okay when animating your actions on the wii
Oh yes.. hold a 6 inch, half pound, rectangle in my hand and swinging it around in front of a tv screen is going to spark up my inner evil killing machine.
Well, we all know that Adolf Hitler--who murdered MILLIONS--was an avid Nintendo Wii gamer. Rumor has it that he created 6,000,000 million Jewish Wiis and went one by one pressing and holding the A+B button to hold them and shake them feverishly. It's also well-known that all those murdering in Darfur are habitual GTA3 players. When will it end.
