Niche specific adwords?

Someone had told me it is best to have adwords that play well with your niche. I can see why this can matter in some cases, but I always assumed you wanted to go for high raking words in general, not just niche specific. Thoughts?

    Hi
I think both are correct, let me briefly explain why,

If your niche is shoes then obviously your advertise with keywords related to shoes ie
    Girls shoes
    boys shoes
    high heeled shoes etc etc

but then going away slightly from the shoes niche your keywords might be '

party nights ( your ad can say ; great prices on shoes for your parties )

going shopping ( shop till you drop and get fantastic prices for shoes )

    etc etc

Having a mix of high ranking keywords which maybe expensive but convert well and cheaper off niche keywords is a good strategy as it can be difficult to compete for the higher ranking keywords.

This works for any niche, ie i mentor affiliates on finance products ( life insurance etc ) and always go slightly off niche to try and get cheaper keywords .

    Hope this helps
