Niche SEO: Applying SEO to obscure keywords with limited resources

Can anyone help me with this? I'm performing SEO for www.modularm.com as the marketing director there. We are a small company with limited resources. Basically, my strategy has been focused on tracking traffic (our host, crystaltech.com, has great tracking programs), finding more targeted keywords that will produce sales, and link campaigns through either free directories with high page rank or related industry publications (PR pieces) and websites. A useful tool in this has been doing backlink research on competitors and getting backlinked by as many of their sources as possible.

Does anyone have any advice for me as to how I can continue to improve and refine my results?

(ps. I know the site looks kind of crappy, I'm not an art guy so I haven't revamped the actual look of the page, we're waiting on the bosses son to come up with the aesthetics.)

does your boss know he is paying someone that is asking about his job in forums?

at least don't post your boss's website.

Get a keyword list together and submit to directories based on your chosen keywords

Of course he knows, why wouldn't I ask in forums? Why wouldn't I use every medium possible to discover new ways of marketing. That doesn't make sense, that's what these forums are for.

And of course I'm going to post his weblink. It's not like we hate pagerank over here.

you said your host has good tracking programs, which ones are these, just in case, you can use the overture (from yahoo) and the external google one to see what people are already searching and you may have to focus on phrases, possibly also buy another domain name which concatenates the words in a phrase and have this as an alias, and submit this ONLY to search engines so it can be indexed?

    I'd make those:
    Blood Banks Greenhouses Hospitals
    Labs Industrial Monitoring Biomedical
    Morgues Vacation Homes Computer Rooms
FoodService Walk-In Coolers / Freezers Schools
    Institutional Kitchens Cafeterias Stadiums
    Hotels Universities Environmental Rooms

on the front page into links to relevant pages on your site. Useful for visitors and good in search engines.
