I am a complete n00b when it comes to niche marketing so please forgive any blatant n00b mistakes, common questions etc.

How effective is it to target keywords with low quoted results? For example lets use the keyword: "luxury ladies daimond and gold watches". Unquoted google returns nearly 350k results but quoted it doesn't return any results.

Lets also say(completely fictional) that the google keywords tool says that the keyword gets an average of 150 global monthly searches. Does that mean all searches combined - e.g. quoted and unquoted or ?

Lets also say that my site was the only site returned in a quoted search but there are over 300k results unquoted. How many of those 150 gobal monthly searches could I expect to rank well for?

So my basic question is: How does ranking for quoted keyword affect ranking for the unquoted keyword?

When using Googles tool you can choose "broad" or "exact" with the latter being the searches in quotes. These type of low searched keywords should be really easy to rank for but you have to ask yourself if it will lead to traffic and sales that you are aiming for. I ended up buying market samurai for $97 and it does so much to help you quickly research and find the right keywords and how you can beat your competitors. Keep learning and stay persistent.

    You need to do this:

just go to seo keyword free tool, type in a seed keyword, look for a good keyword with around 30 to 150 searches a day. Now put that keyword in Google in quotes. This tells you how many websites are competing for that keyword. Go for anything under 100,000 with atleast 30 to 150 searches a day.

How effective is it? VERY Effective. Actually you do not need to know a lot about marketing if you just get this right.

um, if a term has anywhere near 100k results I don't consider it a niche at all. To me a niche has very few results.

The number of pages you are competing against has nothing to do with a niche. In the broadest sense, golf is a niche. Golf shoes is a niche. Red golf shoes is a niche.

Actually, the niche is really the people you need to target that wants red golf shoes, as opposed to the shoes themselves.;)
