as Jewely itself having lot of category like buying jewellery, software jewelly, design etc. i think niche directory is better.
General directories generate more traffic, than Niche directories. So publishing in general directories increases more traffic.
Would you care to explain how you came to this conclusion? Could you expand on this rather than making generalizations.
Looks like yet another signature spammer. Diamond earrings and SEO services on a thread about starting a jewelry directory. Do people still fall for this crap and actually hire these people?
I am currently working on 3 directories (2 are medical and one martial arts). I think going niche is better, you're having an easier work with the SEO (easier to prepare a well thought marketing campaign if you have a well defined niche) and maybe it's easier for your visitors/members to find/use the site, since they can promote their site in a very relevant environment.
Unless you are willing to make a serious investment of time and money, stay away from directories (niche or general). If, however, you are prepaid to create a quality directory (will probably take a year or so of initial work to begin), then go ahead with a niche directory. The trick is to find a small enough niche that is still big enough to have enough long term customers.
Everyone is discussing either for general or Niche directory. Some arguing for general or some for niche directory because of reasons known to them. I just want to say that both the directories are perfect if you can maintain quality of sites entered in the directory and building a repute in the eyes of Google. If you achieved that target then, any site from them can be a beneficial stuff in future.
I want create a niche directories, but i need information - what categories are interested? What language You need?
