niche directory (IMDB like) success?

Hello,

I run an IMDB like website which uses a custom wiki-type engine to allow users to add and edit information in the database. I have nearly 20k pages of unique records and content per page (for instance, author pages, publisher pages, etc...)

I have around 27k unique hosts & 70k visits per day. I have been trying for nearly two years now to increase my very very low adsense CTR, but with no success. I make next to nothing with adsense.

I am wondering if perhaps these types of "niche" information directories just will never do well with adsense, or if any of you have had success in the past with such a website.

Have you tried changing your ad colours and positions?

 

Maybe adsense just doesn't work well with movie databases.

 

jjk323: this is a crappy market. I run a similar site to yours. People don't visit sites like these to click ads - and the ones they do click will basically never top 10 cents.
