I think the owner forgot to add the decimal point AFTER the 5, a listing there would be worth no more than $5.00, but that is just my opinion.
Thank you for posting. The Hookah Directory is mine. The free listing is for "local hookah bars" to submit and be listed (for our users to find the closest hookah bar to them). The featured listing is for online hookah stores. We are one of the largest hookah communities and websites online so $500 to advertise to targeted audience is actually not a huge price (and it is permanent). $500 might be too expensive when you look at it from SEO value of the link in the directory. However, submitter aren't even allowed to submit anything but their official name so there goes another part of the SEO value of the link. This is really an advertising price to advertise the business to the website visitors.
I think the owner of this directory is just setting up an experiment. Anyway, he will draw attantion to his directory - this is 100% successful advertising. I wish him good luck!
A serious problem that resides on DP these days is everyone else is worrying about what someone else is doing with their projects. People need to mind their own business and stay out of other people's while doing so. If someone else is making money, too bad! They've obviously earned it and put more of an effort into it than you ever have. So, with that being said, you nosy crack heads just need to stick your heads in the sand and don't come back up. You will thank yourself in the morning for doing so. (that is, if you make it.. which we hope you don't) Now go an touch yourself in your naughty places and cry about how you don't make any money while someone else does.
There are tens( hundreds?) of thousands of the pay for inclusion directories out there charging good money for useless listings that have nil direct traffic and an infinitesimal effect on serps. $500 compared to the worthless crap that these charlatans are selling is an actual bargain for targeted traffic.
I'm interested to know why you think this amount is crazy... I have directory sites where I charge $750 per year for premium listings. I guess I must be doing something right 'cos right now, I'm sold out of slots and have a waiting list of advertisers. Providing the directory offers genuine value (= traffic = ROI), then why not? Jon
I agree with this one, but want to ask a question an0n. Why do people who have no financial vested interest in a script for example go all out to try and discredit others scripts? I know your exempt to a degree on this as your pretty much what made phpld get to the level it did but what about the ones who have done nothing more than buy a copy? What makes them come along interfering. That would be a HARD one to do.
