My weakest link when doing backlinking is directories. Actually, I don't take enough time with it. I have a few sites and I am wondering what you guys think about me concentrating on niche directories? Good idea? Or should I expand on other avenues of directories?
Do you mean as a submitter? You need to see if web directories even exist for the niches that you need. Or do you mean setting up niche directories?
I've found that niche directories give the strongest link juice for directory links. This is because the entire site is more closely related to my own sites than a general directory is. Although general directories work well too if the owner keeps it clean and all the links in the category pages are closely related. So if I were you I'd start by submitting to some niche directories then branch out to the better general directories.
I think its also because they have less categories so you have a much better chance of getting a link closer to the home page than if you submit to a general directory
