So recently I decided to try and make a few bucks with adsense so i picked a niche with fairly low competition on google and made a site for it. Now as im finally starting to get some decent search engine rankings someone else comes in making a similar site where their domain is actually one of the main keywords I am targeting so they will always be higher than me for it. Im not getting much traffic as it is and I dont really wna get into a link building competition I was just wondering does this sort of thing happen often? I know when I was looking for a good niche I steered clear of ones that looked like they were taken seems like this move is screwing us both over. We will be dividing the traffic of a very small niche. Why wouldn't they pick something else?? Is there anything I can do about it aside from keep building links or going on to make a new site?
to be quite honest, if you picked a low competition, low trafficked niche , you probably wouldn't earn more than $10.00 or 115.00 per month from your adsense revenue, even if you were #1 in the search results I hate to sound harsh... but you're not missing out on much! But to answer your question, if you want to beat this website, get as many "DoFollow" backlinks (with your targeted keywords as the anchor text) as you can
Yeah, it is important to consider the main keyword for your niche while choosing domain name. If properly chosen, your site can get quality organic traffic even for years, without any promotion.
