    Hi

What restriction would you have with competition if you were looking for a new blog niche? i.e. number of competing sites in Google, the daily search volume in Google etc?

I will first see whether I have good knowledge on this niche, then look for the daily search volume

when i make autoblog i never think about niche.

Restrictions?... As long as it's related to my blog it doesn't matter if there's a lot of comptitors(because if you have a competitive keyword, you'll likely to have many competitors)...

The most important thing in regards to maintaining and launching a successful blog is how knowledgeable and informed you are actually about the topics and niches you are going to get involved with.

First see that it don't have competition in millions. And the most important thing which many overlook is knowledge about niche. Even if you outsource, you still need to know about it.

This is pathetic. I asked what you should look for with the number of competing sites in Google and the daily search volume in Google. That's why I put it in the Google category.

That is the best advice. Just because there is a lot of competition, doesn't mean that they do a better job than you will.
There are plenty of competitive niches with millions of pages, but they are just that pages...crappy articles that say the same thing over and over again, old blogs that are never updated, aged landing pages, and misinformation.

If you have expertise in a certain subject, don't let competition scare you away.
If you are just putting up a blog to capture a keyword or phrase, under 5,000 is the rule I follow to get a first page ranking with a few articles and bookmarking.

I have lucked up on some domains with 20-80 million in search competition and was still able to rank number one, just by having the domain that directly matches the search term ( and some SEO of course).

Thanks for all the replies. I guess the the number of links and the PR of those sites on page one of Google is more important than anything else. Cheers.

I wouldn't look at the competition i would just make sure that i didn't go into a niche so competitive that its impossible to get noticed or that i would hate trying to write about.
