Nextgen Gallery Plugin Help Needed

i'm using the nextgen gallery on this page: http://karenschwartzdesign.com/wordpress/portfolio/logo-design/

but i cant figure out what setting to change so that the thumbnails align horizontally across the page. right now, the first line has two, the second line 2, the third line just 1 and so on.

but i need a more consistent look. worst case scenario maybe it could be just 1 per line. but where in the world is the setting that changes that???

    please advise. thanks in advance!

I was having the same problem. Every time I added images, the thumb nails would be all screwed up.

First of all you set the thumbnail size in Options->Thumbnails.

Then when you add new images, you have to redo all of the thumbnails so that they are all the same dimensions. Go To Manage Gallery , put a check box next to the gallery that you are updating and in the drop down menu at the top choose Create New Thumbnails and it should redo them so that the new images are congruent with the older ones.

i understand exactly what you're saying but i tried that, to no avail. when i select all the images, then click "Create New Thumbnails", it asks for the width x height. I have it set for 200 x 150. So after it crunches out the new thumbnails and I click save changes, then view the page, i see what appears now, which is some thumbnails are 200px across and some are 150 tall, but none are both (http://karenschwartzdesign.com/wordpress/portfolio/logo-design/)

    so what am i missing?????

When you set the thumbnail dimensions (Options->Thumbnails) , there is a box for "Ignore the aspect ratio, no portrait thumbnails", make sure that is checked and try it again.

Hmmnn. That's how I fixed my thumbnail problem. I'll have to think about it and get back to you. Hopefully someone else can chime in with an answer.
You may want to try making your thumbnails symmetrical say 200x200...just to see if it will work and then maybe we can track down why it doesn't work with other dimensions.

Every time you change something concerning the thumbnails, you have to repeat the "Create new thumbnails" option, or it will only apply to future additions, not existing ones.

i'm with you. i did that. but still having the same problem. clearly the boxes aren't 200x200 though maybe their width or height is. i wonder why it doesnt create a square for each image. seems like it wants to keep the widthxheight ratio the same as the original???

The only other thing that I can suggest is to ensure that you have everything set the way you want it to display and create another gallery ( a duplicate) and see if it adheres to the settings for the new creation.

actually i was thinking, where is it determined how far across the page (horizontally) the images go???? maybe i can change that setting and have them line up side by-side across the page and that should solve the issue

well, yeah. If you don't give it enough room to display, it's not going to come out correctly no matter how you set the dimensions.

Looks to me like you have not set the columns.

Go into Nextgen options > gallery tab > third option down is columns ... set this to the number of images you want to display across the page.
