He threw matchsticks up in the air and the ones that were touching were the number of days till the next update. He knows the exact date but he's keeping it to himself, the selfish git ;)

I have thought about start a thread like this for about two weeks minimum ... but then I ask myself .. do I really need a PR update now .. and the answer is not really ... as it gives me another day to try and get more backlinks and another day for G to find those that were added here and there a few day ago.

Remember - most of us havent had a homepage pr update in quite awhile.

And I can always use a PR update.

BTW - Google seems a bit more active today. Ive seen it doing deep crawls on several sites, including mine.

Google's always active, mate! The fact that it's actively crawling your site doesn't mean that a PR update is coming!!

And, I thought that Google had switched to quarterly updates, in which case they won't be doing an update for a while, right? Although ..... it's always good to have an update. :)

Well I can guarentee it is something you can take even bets for any day. Someone should start a site where webmasters guess the dates of the next backlink and PR updates and the winners get a front page link until the next update.

That's a good idea! I don't know when the next toolbar update is going to be (and it doesn't matter either). But, I did see BIG jumps in SERPs during the weekend of 13-14 November. Did anybody else see any big charges in SERPs around that time? I reckon that that's when the last actual database PR update took place. The previous BIG changes I noticed before that were around the 18th of August (approx. three months prior).

So, if I were to guess the date of the next PR update, I would say that it will be around mid-Feb. Although the toolbar update might actually be done in the near future, but it won't be affecting SERPs (in my opinion).

I would do it myself but I don't believe in gambling. Already had to turn down work because of that.

It's not gambling. It's not like you're putting in any real money.
