As we all know, the big 3 TLDs are .COM, .NET, or .ORG. What would you consider as the next best alternative if those aren't available?
I would prefer to only use the big three, and so far I haven't had a problem registering domain names with those extensions. But if I had no other option I would accept .info as an alternative.
Ditto. However, I'd have to say it really depends on the specific domain and it's use. There are some I'd prefer to have in say --- .tv .
I believe .info is the next best thing. The future of .me is still unknown (IMO). Hopefully .me's do well, but only time will tell.
Info is quite good... but honestly speakin, nothing compares to .com and not even .net.... However, if I was starting a non-profit org then I would definitely go for .org domain regardless the fact that a .com is available, but that is simply just me!
At the moment .me is really popular, so I put that. .info is leading the vote, which suprises me seeing as there is practically no market for .infos at the moment, even with some of the best domains, the .info just seems to drag it down..
I think the main problem with .info is that it has become such a spam extension...largely because of its being cheap and easy to register. That said, I'd still opt for a .info if all reasonable variations of the .com/net/org were taken. Mainly IF the website were to be (at least in part) informational. Of course I'd first try different variations of the .com .tv is the only other I might consider aside from the .info at this point...but that would depend largely on the intended use of the domain...it'd have to be a domain is relevant to the .tv extension. I agree with Vonman, that the future of .me is still unknown. .
I like the .Me because they will be more valuable espicialy now with lots of still open opportunity. If you buy a .Me at Go daddy, use promo code CHH2 at check out and it will get you $5 off each one. Obviously .com domains still hold value so if you have a .com domain you should renew it and use promo Code CHH3 . This will renew your .com domain at Godaddy.com for $6.95 a year. This is also good for new .com registers. Have fun registeringg
It really depends on the target audience you are aiming at. If we have to consider which is the next biggest I would say that the .info has no competition, however I wouldn't give up on the idea to use country domains or .eu in that essence.
