Hi, I'm planning to start my newspaper website. Is Wiki News a good source for news content? is it duplicate content? how will it affect my SEO? Can you suggest some sources of news/content for a newspaper website? aside from hiring a good writer. Thanks!
I would be careful using any type of wiki as a "source". If you are copying or syndicating content from other sites it will be duplicate content. News sites are very difficult to rank unless you are writing new fresh content that does not exist on the web already (actually reporting on news). Even then you are competing against well established sites with a ton of content. If you are serious about your site: I would really focus on making the site extremely useful for visitors, and get as many high quality relevant links as possible.

If you mean you copied your content from wikipedia, then yes it is duplicate content. Copying content from other sites, even wiki's will provide NO value to you website since search engines will only give value to the original source. Copying content from any other website is a waste of time and will not help your website in any way. Consider writing your own spin on an article or story, and link to the source.
