Newspaper Marketing for Website

So I have a website for an affiliate program. I was thinking about advertising in the classifieds section and just listing my website in the ad. Has anyone had success with converting people via this method?

Figured it would be worth a shot, provided the affiliate doesnt say "where is all this traffic coming from, were getting no referral url"

I never attempted this and was wondering the same. anyone?

I would say if its in your budget and you can test it out, then why not? anyways if you do, it would be good if you update this thread on how it went :)

Any kinds of offline marketing strategies are also worth trying because it maximize your website's exposure but the problem is that it might require a larger budget and more work and time.

You might want to consider placing classified ads in those free newspapers that you see laying around stores and restaurants. Many people read those things and you'd be amazed at how much local traffic you'll run across when you advertise there.

Put a special code in the ad for people to use to get their 'secret gift'. When they go to the site have an autoresponder set up with an extra field called special code. :)

This will add people to your mailing list and allow you to track where the ad came from. You can use a different code for each offline news source you utilize so you know which one is produce the most traffic. Then you can increase your advertising accordingly.

I used this list to get some extra publicity for a website of mine...its much cheaper than sending out a press release, and in my opinion, the coverage you get from an editor writing an article outweighs the chance of someone seeing your classified ad.

    hope this helps...

Yeah, I think I've read about it months ago where someone placed an offline ad for an affiliate CPA and got great results. Try it out and let us know how it goes.

I've often wondered about this too.

I would think that those reading the classifieds in newspapers would convert very well.

This can work but it really depends heavily on where you advertise and how good your ad copy/web site. I have done this a few times and did slightly better than broke even twice, lost money on one and made a few hundred on one. It depends on demographics and what your offer is.

It all depends on your end result. If you get great exposure and it is what you are looking for then try it. But if you are looking for conversion and the exposure that not give you that then you have to rethink it.
