I have been experimenting with these kind of ads to drive traffic to my sites. Anyone know which is better?
That question is a bit nebulous. It really depends on the demographic and the ad placement as well. It is hard to give professional advice without knowing a few things about what you are trying to do. Nigel
I agree with Nigel.. But at the same time.. you'll invest more in a magazine than you will with a newspaper. Determine if that investment is enough by the exspected profit. For some websites a newspaper is great while others will need a niche specfic magazine to get the profit you want. I prefer newspaper.. I can place like 20 ads for the same price as 1 ad in a magazine... Good luck..
Thank you for your input. I actually made a profit from my first newspaper classified ad back in montreal 12 years ago.
Actually many people use offline advertising as a good way to drive traffic including but not limited to newspapers, radio and television, fliers, visit cards and other printed media. If these methods are more commonly seen everyday, that means they work
It really depends on the niche you're trying to promote, if your website is targetted at a specific group of people (trade workers, professionals, etc) - you're better off promoting in a specialized magazine. I would think that if you're trying to promote a "Hometown Portal" or whatever (weather/etc) a newspaper would bring more traffic, as the you reach the optimal audience in both circumstances. I think Magazines will cost you a lot more, but depending what kind of ROI you see, it may well be worth it. No one hardly reads classifieds anyway. The key is to know where your niche is, and where to find it's target audience. Even if it's something obscure, there is probably at least one print newsletter with a decent amount of subscribers that you may be able to sponsor or whatever. All of this of course depends on budget.
It really depends upon the kind of newspaper and magazine you are planning to use for advertisement. I will suggest you to go for a popular newspaper than a similarly popular magazine if you want to invest less and want good results. Otherwise any of these two will do the job.
For example sake, lets say I have an income opportunity to promote and am using the business opportunities section. I almost invested $500 in an ad in popular mechanics magazine that boasts over 9 million distribution. Or I could put an ad in the globa and mail or the new york times. Which would return better results for the same ad expense?
