Hey guys, I want to start a newsletter on my site, but I'm not sure how to go about it.

I've seen these sites offering good service. e.g.

    http://www.yourmailinglistprovider.com

However I don't really want to pay for it because I don't know how many people I am going to be signing up.

I also don't want to use free trials with ads etc..

Can anyone give me any advice?

    thanks

The problem with free providers is (as you already know) that they usually aren't reliable, they add annoying ads in the newsletter and their emails usually end in spam folders etc

And at the end, 5-10$ a month isn't a lot either. I suggest that you sacrifice those few bucks at the start and get a reliable service because I'm sure you'll be able to get your money back really soon anyway.

What's the best stand alone newsletter application (something that doesn't require monthly payments and I can manage myself from my computer)?

I know there is something in Cpanel to do with newsletters, but I don't understand it.

    I just found this: http://www.phplist.com

    Has anyone used it before?
