    If you use wordpress you should use "wp ajax newsletter" (google it, first result).
    It gives you total access on your mail list and newsletters content. It has an activation process, an unsubscribe page, but it don`t support HTML.

    If you don`t use wordpress you should yous PHPList, like webhostingnerds.com said, it`s perfect for what do you want to do.
