You know, I've never actually used a newsletter...BUT you can take a look at different company newsletters and see what they do. For example, you can sign up for Godaddy.com's newsletter - take a look at it when they send it to you, which will give you ideas on how to use your own newsletter to make money from.
Be discreet. Dont hammer the products into your customers faces. Maybe introduce a new product in each newsletter rather than all of them at once. This technique might help improve sales too
I know this is a vague answer but you need to train your subscribers to expect to receive ads from the very beginning. Yes, you should give good info but if all you do is send valuable info and then a few months later you start sending ads, you may not like the results. I have lists in several niches and the unsubscribe rate is not any higher in the niches where I send a lot of ads.
Give more information about product/services. This approach make them positive for using your product/services.
