    Hey,
I'm thinking about creating a news website on a specific domain ala Google news or Yahoo news.
It will show news updated every hour or so, and I'm not willing to save archives of thousands of news to keep the search engines bringing traffic to old news.
So it will be a few pages only.
How does SE react to that content?
That project will be viable only if they index those pages every hours or so to bring traffic through latest news search.
    Do you have some advice?

Since I'm assuming the contest will by syndicated, how are people going to find you? That same content could potentially be found on hundreds of other sites so the search engines will likely pass you right up. Seems to me you'll need unique content as well or it's not worth the effort.

Regarding your question about having just a few pages but frequently updated content, assuming the content is unique, the search engines will likely treat you relatively favorably.

However, public comments by Google recently suggest that internal link building, i.e. adding pages is a valuable way of increasing search engine ranking.

Yes, you're right, it makes sense only if it's backed by a site on the subject too.
