I was thinking of opening a new website for news around the world. But i wanted to know what a good domain name would be and what would be the best idea to make it a little faster. Should i possibly make it like a blog or how. Input would be recommend. Thank you.
What i meant by that was how to make adding the new news everyday and not have so much work... Also, i was looking on yahoo and i found something that will automatically generate meta tags and save me much time. Have you used something like this? and if not to you believe that it will help me get into SE's better then only having the header tags? Thanks.
a good domain is a brandable domain but there is bound to be someone who replies disagreeing. in an SEO's view, find a good keyword (tip: keyword tool at seobook.com), then try and get a domain name with your keywords. you will then need to find some good RSS feeds. then you, well, build the site depending on what you want. i dont think a blog will quite do it - if your interested in world news, a blog won't quite cut it - by the time you have read one article, 5 more have been created. faster... RSS and CSS. if your a one-man team dont expect to do the work of the BBC. CSS will just make the site significantly faster, especially bigger sites. most of all, you need a catch that makes your site unique to others, which will provide a catch and make your visitors want to visit again. that, is up to you.
Thanks. I have seen alot about RSS feed. But can someone please explain what it is.. ive been trying not to ask because i dont want to annoy people. But i would like to know. Thanks
Ok,then blog would be a good choice. I'd recommend you use Wordpress. Regarding the meta tags, there's a plugin has these features, just do a search on Google.
A rss feed is a feed you can register to. If you are registered to a feed, and the site admin makes a news post, you will receive a notice from your rss reader that theres a new post. You can chose many things in your reader like if you only want to receive the header, or the whole message,... The main thing is that all users subscribed to the feed will be warned if theres a new post.
RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication" (though I prefer my own term, which uses a recursive acronym - RSS Site Syndication - but that's just me), which is just an XML file format that allows you to syndicate content (including .mp3 files, which are called "podcasts") from a Web site to an aggregator (a special piece of software that can read the file) and even from one Web site to another (the file is usually parsed using PHP and then converted into HTML). If you want to learn how to create your own RSS feeds, pick up Developing Feeds with RSS and Atom by Ben Hammersley. You can find it on O'Reilly's Web site. In fact, I think the chapter that specifically teaches you how to create your own RSS feeds is given out for FREE on their Web site. Yup. Here's the link to the sample chapter page: http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/deveoprssatom/chapter/index.html
Thank you guys for helping me. I have been moving so have been kind of busy to make my new website. But once i get started then i will try the RSS thing and see how that works out for me. I am not sure how i will be able to get all the content i need to compete against other websites out there or to even get my name out. I seem to be having a really hard time getting traffic to my website it seems. And my adsense earning have DROPPED anyone have any pointers on that? Thank you very much Joecool6101
Hmmm, i too agree that for making it faster CSS would be of gr8 help and since u r makin a news site ul need frequent updates so RSS is the answer and as far as d names r concerned try these, like news247, or worldnews247, sumthin with the digits "247", cuz ur makin a news site.
its a tough competition out there but dont expect that your new site will be recognized out yet.. with patience and hardwork im sure your site will be recognized, just use Good analytics and symantics so that it will be crawled smoothly
its going to be really hard for you to compete with the big boys out there such as sky news, bbc, google news etc, but good luck with it.
