If you guys could fill out my survey for a university project that I am doing, I'd be very happy! Please visit my projects website first, and then you will find a link to the survey, much appreciated. It will take less than a minute. http://penguin.uclan.ac.uk/~dgarsva/uni/
Well, first up stop using a BUTTON and scripttardery to do an anchor's job; it breaks middle clicking and of course has zero graceful degradation. Took me about a minute to figure out why I couldn't actually get to the survey. Your main site is an inaccessible mess thanks to absurdly undersized px metric fonts mated to scripttardery that to be frank, takes any attempt at making it responsive and pisses all over it. The gibberish markup, endless pointless scripting for nothing (other than making the site less useful to visitors) and host of accessibility/design issues all reek of... well, what I've come to expect from University education. Which I filled out your survey to that effect. 215 files totalling 2.7 megs for THAT? As I've been saying WAY too much lately, throw it all out and start over, there is little if anything I would even try to salvage from that mess. Bottom line, you're wasting 85k of markup, 192k of CSS on 3.5k of plaintext and two dozen content images -- easily TEN TIMES what's necessary for such a simple page; the absolutely idiotic HALF A MEGABYTE of "JS for nothing" pissing all over the page's functionality for some goofy scrolling that doesn't even gracefully degrade just trashes the entire page, and really if you don't know what's wrong with loading 198 images totalling two megabytes, you probably shouldn't be building websites in the first place. Sorry if that's harsh, but it's the truth. I have a silly question: Were you taught ANYTHING about logical document structure, proper heading orders, semantic markup, separation of presentation from content, or progressive enhancement leading to graceful degradation? What am I saying? That's like asking if you ever get to the cloud district...
