Google's last earnings report says 15% more people are "clicking on ads" but Adwords revenue was down because advertisers were paying less. I presume that a lot of that percentage can be attributed to new users in developing countries coming online. Do we know what the story is for particular regions such as North America, Europe, or Asia? What I'm trying to locate are news stories that speak to overall volume of people searching in the past year, compared to previous years, as an overall gauge of the health of the economy. Web volume for certain segments, regions, etc. can be a leading indicator of coming economic trends, just as increases in orders for durable goods can be a leading indicator for job growth. Any such analysis?
