Hi, Can anyone tell me the basis used by google news to pick up an article? I mean i know that it picks up all the articles, but i would like my articles to be featured near the top so that to start with i get some traffic. I heard thatit depends on page rank and content. Content i can manage, but the page rank is something i have not yet understood. I know that pagerank depends upon the number of links to higher page ranks and also seo. Till now i thought that seo depended upon the meta tags. But i read a post saying that meta tags are only a part of seo. I cannont think any other way in which i can optimize my site apart from good keywords and submitting articles to directories. If anyone there is running a news site which is consistently getting picked up by google news near the top..please give me some tips Thanks in advance
Google News does not use conventional SEO basis for judging if a site will appear in its results. Results are clustered based on topicality - so to be "at the top", you need to be topical as the primary criteria.
Have a look at the Google News publisher support pages. There are other things you have to think about to be eligible such as.... 2. The URL for each article must contain a unique number consisting of at least three digits. Please note that this number can't consist of only an isolated four-digit number that resembles a year. http://www.google.co.uk/support/news_pub/
