Without going into a specifics, we try do feed and search management in house to provide the data to our client devices. I just had an interesting conversation with our management in discussing acquiring an existing news search engine or contract that part of the business out altogether. Were a small company so fat yearly agreements with Google, Yahoo, etc in the long term are out of the question. So were looking at either acquiring or contracting with second tier providers such as newsknowledge.com, newslookup.com, newsnow.co.uk, worldnews.com, etc. Anyone have recommendations?
You could build your own using nutch. Just seed it with a list of sites you want to crawl, indicate how frequently (daily?) and you'll have your own.
I am guessing you will need to host your own servers to use this... Correct? Too bad, I was looking for something like this. All I've found so far was http://websearch.alexa.com/ but I believe that it is still in Beta mode unfortunately and my application probably never made it past the circular bin.
