As many of you probably already knew, I'm a dmoz editor. I'm one of those editors that don't know how long I'll stay one, but for now I've been in - which is good, or I wouldn't have known the following: Just now, when I tried to login to dmoz, it was down for editors. It said in multiple languages (repeating the English): I guess it's counting time again. Anyone up for bets how long they'll be down this time?
Why would dmoz do that? Hell they didnt announce anything when there servers were down for almost 3 days and website offline, what you expect ? They aint got time.
Well, at least the 18 editors that still have access/bother to access the internal forums got a heads up
I thought (for like two weeks) that there was an actual dmoz blog, and logged onto that - hoping for this sort of update, but didn't get it. Do they really expect editors to watch the forums just so they get a heads up on this sort of thing? And yes: there is some sort of dashboard notice thing going on, but this wasn't on it (when last I checked - I did log in last week). In fact, it usually gives info rather late. But I am glad to see they announced it in at least one public place and it's an actual planned maintenance thing - and they've announced a time line.
