News/Article Management Systems

Does any one know about an opensource news/ariticle management systems.
I have tried sNews, Jpowered, cuteNews and so many others but none of them has all basic features.

 

WordPress can be used as a news/article management system, too.

In fact, most of the open source blog software can be used as news/article management system.

 

I finally figured out that and using wordpress for this purpose. Found some good templates and plugins which helped me achieve this task.

Wordpress is fabulously easy. Has a ton of great plugins too. K2 is a great theme to use for news sites.

 

thanks, any suggestion for plugins.

1. I have multiple authors, I want to use any rating system for their posts?
2. authors can only view their own posts in admin.
3. adsense revenue sharing, I guess adsense author, or some plugins available? but don't know which one is best.
4. better related links plugin; which provide content related post at end. the default related links function is not that much effective.

What are your specific functionality requirements? Who will be using the CMS to update the site? Tell us what these 'basic features' you need are. We are not mind-readers.

I'm tempted to recommend Textpattern over WP as it provides you with an additional layer of content organization (categories plus sections), but the learning curve is also slightly steeper. Textpattern is extremely flexible and simple once you understand how it works, but it is definitely not as plug-n-play as WP.

 

Actually I also wanted something along the lines of what your talking about. I have two blogs so far which soon will get daily unique articles posted by myself. The problem is I will reach a point when too many blogs and too many articles being posted on them will consume too much of my time. I know there is a way to automate this but what should I be using to do this? Any recommendations?

i woudl suggest go with Wordpress ... WP being used by so many ppl , u r bound to get variopus types of plugins . the Basci WP is the easiest to use and hardly requires any knowledge .
Otherwise if ur requirements are very specific , try getting one developed

 

My VOTE is for Joomla or Drupal and can be very very powerful. They have tons of plugins and two of them are news feeds and articles
