DP didn't deny you; I did.

There was discussion/complaints on this a while back. I can't find the post about it yet, but I'm looking.

Nothing wrong with referring people; but creative anchor text would probably be more beneficial.

I know, but I assume you are authorized by and following DP's guidelines.

When you refuse an ad, you're doing so on behalf of and representing DP, no? I did not want to blame 'you' directly and don't mean to turn this into a fight. I'm not spitting flames, raging angry or anything like that.

I'm just saying the ad approval process appears to be inconsistant. And because it's inconsistant, the results become arbitrary and unfair to members.

Why should one member's ad be accepted, and another member placing the same ad to the same site (the coop) be refused? That shouldn't happen.

There needs to be a method for which people are notified by email that ads are disapproved, and why it occurs. I know this means more work for whoever is approving the ads, but ads appear to be getting disapproved which are not violating any of the posted rules. So if the approvers are using their own criteria that's different from the rules, that should be posted as the rules. Leaving people guessing at why their ad was disapproved is not really very helpful to learning how to get your ads approved.

Yes, if approvers use their own criteria that is not consistant with DP's guidelines things get messy. People will just submit over and over again hoping to get a different approver.

Yep my ads are being disapproved when they have a great description, I think solely because they are pointing to a welcome page for that keyword, which I find unfair. As with most online promotions you point adverts to specific pages that have special info on them. Such as dell do with dell.co.uk/tv /radio etc. My username = Nick0r if anyone wants to check it out.

    On the subject of ads

The rules state: Types of ads:
    No adult ads are allowed
    No gambling ads are allowed
    No pharmaceutical ads are allowed

But is a keyphrase like: 'premature ejaculation' allowed.

Say I have a page that sells an ebook on the subject

    I just submitted my site
I thought my ads dissapeared too.
After you submit you must hit the ENABLE link.
I guess it's like confirm after you initially submit.

I did it 3 times before I realized to do this.

This is for numbskulls like me :-P
I was going to just wait.

    Thanks for a great system.

Getting back on topic, I agree with the above statments. If "spammy" sites or "non-creative anchor text" aren't allowed, then the guidelines should state this.

It would make submitting easier, and I suspect it would make approval easier.

Though, I think we should come up with an actual definition of "spam". Just saying "lots of links, no content" would mean no directories. And "I wouldn't link my site to it" is very subjective, and we would be leaning towards somebody's suggestion that people would just re-submit until they got a different approver.

i would define spammy sites as completely useless for visitors. And i think it should be added to guidelines to keep at least some spammers and webmasters of junk sites away from co-op which would be good for rest of co-op members.

With the ads I'm disapproving it's usually the ad itself that fails to meet Shawns guidelines, rarely the site. But I do see that a clearer statement could be made to outline the requirements of descriptions.
