    Hello,

I have one question. I have a dating site that have about 5 members a day. On the front page, I have three options to set on front page:
    1. Newest members
    2. Randome members
    3. Most recent logged in

Which option is the best to set on frontpage in terms of SEO? I meant, which option should I use to get more indexed from search engines.

    Thank you very much!!!
    Jenny.

Just based on what you've asked, I would say the newest content is the best to put there to keep the crawlers interested. I would also think as a user it would be more beneficial to see the newest hot singles that just signed up :)

Of course, if there is a lull in registration, the "newest members" might be the same for a while. If you think that might be a concern, then random members might be a better way to go.

Thank you so much! I will put the newest content (members) on front page.

    One more question:
Does it make a difference to put 5, 10, 20 random profiles on frontpage? Which one is better? 5, 10, or 20 or the more the better?

    Jenny.

Tough to say without knowing the layout of the site, depth of profiles, etc.

But I would suggest putting what you think is the right number based on how important the profiles are to the entire page. If you have other content on the page which is more important, then keep the number of profiles low. Personally, I would think 20 is way too high and wouldn't go more than 10 but again, it would depend on the site layout.

    Good luck.

    Think so?

Lets try an experiment about the newest content prediction. being as what I am typing is new then this could only mean that this webpage should rank # 1 on Google based on your theory.

So would you please type in newest content and see if this post is # 1 on Google?

New content could be dull and boring like most threads here at DP (this thread is not) so while new the content probably will not motivate anyone to read and make a purchase since the new content is indeed drull and without merit and a complete waste of time...

The above is just a mindless rant on why new content really means nothing to a search engine unless the new content is of some use to the people who will read it.

Well, different ideas which is great.
In terms of getting indexed, what do you think about new content or randomly selected content?
    Thanks!!!

New content keeps the spiders coming back however this can also be accomplished by expanding your site with new content and then updating your sitemaps submitted to the search engines. :D

    A page a day, a link a day = soon you'll have 1,000s of visitors.

I use GsiteScrawler to run my sitemap. How often should I run my sitemap?
    Thanks.

If you're asking how often you should submit your sitemap, only submit it as often as you have new/different pages to be indexed. If the content is changing (for example, the new members on the homepage) but the page URL is not, you can put hints in the sitemap to suggest how often Google should index each page - but I don't think they pay too much attention to this.

What I meant is how often should I change my sitemap? I only submit my sitemap to google one time and then just update my sitemap so google will automatically scrawl my sitemap, right?
do I have to resubmit my sitemap to google?
    Thanks!!!

I'd set the homepage as the newest content, no questions about it.

If you modify the sitemap significantly (i.e, take out important URLs, add important new ones) then you should ping Google to let them know that your sitemap has been changed: How do I resubmit my Sitemap once it has changed?

I would think that any decent Sitemap Generator/Manager would automatically ping the major search engines when your sitemap is updated, but Im not familiar with GSitecrawler.

You can also just resubmit the sitemap to Google via Webmaster Tools.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks Sirrus. I didn't know that. i thought google automatically update the sitemap but I was wrong. I should resubmit my site each time I update my sitemap.
    Thanks for a great tip.
    Jenny.
