Newegg Nightmare

I've never had a problem with newegg, bought plenty of items from them in the past, never a problem. So I went to them to buy an new digital camera. I selected my camera and waited. Came in the mail, opened it up, box was opened, the camera was scratched. I checked online and apparently the camera was "open box" which is code for refurbished. If you're selling a refurbished item, the word "refurbished" should be in the title first of all. But fine, my mistake.

So that same day, within hours I send the camera back to them. A few days later they say they received it, then a week or so later I get a package back from them. I'm like, "what the hells is this?" I don't open the package and check my email. I have an email from them stating that the item they received is not the same item they sent me. Complete BS. I opened the box, saw the camera was scratched, and put it back in the box, and sent it in the same box they gave me.

So I called customer support, first they say it's been over 15 days and the return period has ended. Then i'm like, i already return the item, you sent it back to me. Then she looks it up and says the serial number on the camera didn't match the serial number on the box. I then explain to her that I sent back the exact same camera they sent to me. If they don't match, then you sent them not matching and that's not my problem.

She then talks to her supervisor and says there's nothing she can do for me and to contact the manufacturer. At which point I explode on her and say, this is 100% newegg's fault, the manufacturer has nothing to do with this. You guys sent me an item, i didn't want, I returned the exact same item. If the serial numbers don't match. Then you sent them out not matching.

I then demanded to talk to her supervisor, she couldn't get her and said that she would call me back.

Has anyone had an experience like this with newegg? Anybody have any suggestions on what I should do? I haven't even opened the box they sent me. I was hoping I could send it straight back, this time without even opening it, so that they got exactly what they sent me without any doubt. I'm so pissed.
