    OK
I am a newbiw to affiliated marking and online marketing in general
I have decided to try affiliated marketing as everyone says its one of the best ways to make money online

I plan to set up 5-6 sites and market them in different ways and sell different things on them

My question is How long should it take before I see some return on my investment and begin making some money and second
how long before I can start to make a part time income around 1000USD a month

    1 month 2 3 6 or more

    Thanks

This depends on how much money you can afford to lose and how smart you are? If you can afford to lots quiet a bit of money you can learn faster. New websites will take a while to be trusted and get good traffic.

Despite what all the Ebooks say. This is not a simple way of making money.

If this is not so simple (not expecting to be) what r the best stratergies to start with or there is something better then Affiliates.

    Thanks

Well if you know how to build sites yourself then you shouldn't have to fork out a lot of money. You will have domain cost and hosting cost, any advertising you want to do. I would work on getting your site to rank for targeted keywords you want to rank for. Exchange links with other similar sites and even buy some permanent links on high ranking sites. Keep your content fresh, write reviews, submit articles ect..... I started making money 3 months after I started back in 2001 and haven't stopped since. :D

It will take time to reach a 4 digit income from affiliate marketing. How many months depends on how dedicated you are. Many people join affiliate marketing, only to quit soon after. You need to set goals and stick with them. That's when you'll see money!

Yes, I agree with you. Its all about how smart you use your money and save the most possible. Have a plan first and expect the plan to not work 100 percent. Remember its not about how much you're willing to invest, its how you make your way around and get the best of everything. Save save save!:)

how much you make and how long it takes depends upon a lot of things

I am at the low end of the earnings, I'm sure. I spend no money on ads. My sites are free off of blogger (I did pay for my domain name). I don't work at it every day. And even when I do, I only spend an hour or two at it. I do write (what I think) is good content and I am regularly updating my sites. I make money with adsense, amazon, pay per post and other sites I promote. I probably average $200 a month.

On the other hand, if you work at it like a regular job (8 hrs a day), hit the right niche, spend money on ppc (learn everything you can about it first...great way to lose money fast if you don't know what you are doing), read DP and the wonderful free help a lot of members post, you can probably be making 4 figures in 9-12 months.

I think you should start step by step. Making your first sale would be a little difficult, but when it comes, you will find it is easier to make 10 sales, 100 sales. If you can make 10 sales (an offer $40 per sale), you can make 1000 USD monthly.

It really depends. With a review site I used to own (HydrogenFuelReview.com), I started making $3,500 a month in less than 2 months. But I really dedicated lots of time & I put lots of effort into it.

Review sites worked the best for me.

It really depends. It takes constant education (read these forums frequently) and the ability to absorb what you need, out of all the information presented. Realistically you may never make it in affiliate marketing. (sorry, those are just the odds).

It always dont depend on investing money sometimes you start getting traffic through some free sites.it then start converting. But this marketing field requires patience and time.
In normal case it takes 2-3 months when you start getting money but for $1000 you have to wait man a little bit more but dont be upset ypu will get the reward.

I think the "How long it will take" part depends on a number of realted things:
    • what experience you have marketing (online or offline)
    • what experience you have as a business owner (because that's what you will be whether you like it or not)
    • what skills you already have that will help you be successful doing business online
    • what type of affiliate program you decide to promote/sell (there are a number of very goods ones and some equally as bad)
    • how much time you are willing to invest to learn and build your business
    • do you have a structured plan to help you achieve your goal(s)

IMO, on a scale of 1 - 10 (with 10 being the highest) your skill level should be no lower than 7 for each of those things if you expect to be successful sooner than later. If you're at a 7 or below then you should be willing to invest in your own business education - and I don't mean a college business degree :) .

It's hardly a secret but the more skills you already have that you can apply to something new the "easier" you success will be.

The biggest mistake I still see newbies make (and I was one once too) is thinking that a great product, service, or company will make them successful WITHOUT taking the steps to learn how to promote/sell. Kinda like having a very nice sharp axe but because they don't know how to use it properly they get poor results, so they go out and buy a new better quality axe but find they get the same poor results....

All that means is that they'll spend way too much time and money making a lot of mistakes that really aren't necessary. That's why the failure rate for mlm, work from home businesses are so high.

Forums like this are a good place to start learning, and there are other great (more structured) resources put out by people who learned how to do what you want to do from leaders in online marketing. Go with the ones who truly enjoy helping other people learn "how to do it". You don't have to spend (I prefer "invest" ) a lot, you just need to invest in the right tools and education that will help you get the results you want.

Speaking as an offline entrepreneur who got in to internet maketing to grow my business online and then decided to start a home business because of the great earning potential, I absolutely LOVE affiliate programs. Once I learned how to work them properly my ROI and profits have been steady. I constantly keep learning new things because that education always pays me back 10 fold (or more).:D

Here's wishing you the best of success in your online ventures!

ZN makes some good points, and there's nothing I really can disagree with in his post. Affiliate marketing is a fairly complex business type and how long it takes is really also an IF it becomes successful. When you get to really know your market and your product you can look at two marketing front's pushing the same product, let's say it's an Ezine article. One can have 16 views and probably has generated no sales, and one has 500. Just this step of the affiliate marking in using keywords, timing, and formatting is huge, and then there is writing (or how something looks, etc. whatever medium your advertisement is in) quality and how good of a salesmen you are, getting your viewers to be interested and take the time to consider your product, etc.

Affiliate marketing almost always takes time (as in hours a day as well as calender days), on top of the above sales skills and savvy, which is particular to each type of product and market. Some products will come and go in popularity, as well as certain marketing mediums. Some products and site types will start generating profit in a week...some after a couple of months. Some take a lot of money to buy into, some are non-investment, so you may have to be able to burn money to generate a profit.

Also as others have mentioned, many affiliate marketing mediums require you do have a good name and some feedback or reputation within your market, which is obviously going to vary depending on what you go into and how you plan to do it.

So there is no set answer for your question in a general sense. The more experience you have with the product, the medium you want to use to sell it, and with affiliate marketing in general, the faster you are likely to catch on and be able to make your efforts profitable.

affiliate programs are great for the merchant(product owner) because its risk free.you only pay your affiliates when they get their leads to perform an action,so it costs you nothing. This advice will boost up your confidence,so go do it and dont think more.
    Thanks!

    @francozac

Not really true for most successful affiliate owners. Before you open it up to affiliate sales you have to ensure it is a good product that will sell, so obviously there may be expenses in the creation of the product (unless its something like an Ebook or other self made item), but also you should be taking some time to try and sell it yourself to make sure you have a conversion rate worth some one signing up as an affiliate for, which means you take time trying to sell it and will often have expenses for hosting or advertising via clicks, etc. Some products and mediums can be done in a way that doesn't yield expenses, but in many cases it does have an overhead.

you simply need to find a market that is hungry for information and one that is spending or has the potential to spend money. If not,you will end builing squeeze pages and finding products to promote when there is no market forthat product.
you must see the market potential before you start to promote it!
