I want to find out what most people can and cant do in terms of succeeding on line ? I realise that most people fail in internet marketing because they lack certain skills theories and concepts. So the question is.. What can't you do ? (ie build website, set up blog, marketing strategies etc) What can you do ? Please list the things you think you can and cant do such as 1. can't build a website 2. don't know html 3. don't know how to chance dns etc The reason I'm asking is because I want to create a product that will hopefully help everyone, especially the ones that are finding it tough. Thank you Michael
I think marketing is the main lacking for most people. Most people get a website done paid or free. But marketing is too expensive if to be done by hiring somebody.
Could any of you guys that have trouble marketing let us know how you do things and whats not working for you and why please.
Well I think some of the main reasons that people fail with marketing are that they aren't motivated/passionate/willing to put the time in/goal orientated and the list goes on. It's mainly all to do with their mindset. Money...you don't need it, you can build your own website easily after watching a few tutorials. If you're doing Network Marketing - Leads: Find ways to get free targeted leads, I have had some great successes with that it's quite easy to become successful in Network Marketing without even cold calling
I have just launched a paid-for website that is a unique service and has potential to really serve my target market (bands and musicians) I am pretty new to online marketing though, so to answer your question, I lack nearly everything! I have built a site that is quite viral by nature, so I just need a core group of active users and I hope it will take off from there. The things I have been trying over the past week or so; Phoning bands and managers, telling them about the site and trying to get them interested Myspace friend requesting A small adwords campaign and facebook ad campaign which were really just to experiment with and see how it goes. I feel I like an overall understanding of online marketing. I am not afraid to spend a bit of cash, because I believe in my website. But I don't want to do a little bit here, a little bit there and hope for the best...I want to know that the efforts I'm putting in are well coordinated and are making the most usage out of my time and money. I realise I have a lot to learn about this whole racket. Even though I know that my target audience should be actively interested in my site, the uptake has been a lot slower than I thought it would be.
I think that after a time most marketers know they have to get a least a working knowledge of how things work .I know many say you have no need to learn and you can simple outsource everything but it doesn’t work like that for 99% of people trying to get in internet marketing. in the beginning you need a working knowledge of html, ftp uploading and many other things .The people who don’t learn aren’t around long.
mine is that i don't know how to build a website with flash (for me, it should have flash otherwise it's out!) and I don't want others to do it for me because I'd rather save
I am not a noob, but I have worked with many over the past few years and know the exact problem. When you work online you don't have a boss, and 90% of people can't get work done without a boss watching over their shoulder. People are lazy and they won't do the grit work that needs to be done. Then they expect someone else to do it for them and give them the world for next to nothing. If they don't get what they want they give up and call it quits. It is just like learning to do anything else, play golf, rollerblade, play the guitar. People are lazy and if it is not easy they quit.
I'm not a noob, but I still can't - build a mini-site - design a banner - design anything for that matter!
I think I lack in marketing a website. I can make a website look good, I can even program it. Or use the simple alternative: CMSs. I can write content with no problem on a lot of topics (and if I can't on one topic I can search for similar articles, read them and make a new one with ideas, not copy->paste sentences, from them). The problem is marketing them. Off course everyone can pay 1$ for a click in Google Adwors, but I don't really consider this marketing. Marketing is when your website reaches to the users in no-paid ways. Hope this helps you, because I would like to see what your product is that will help me
alright, I'm the noobiest noob here: I'm ready to work hard & put in the time, but I don't know css, coding, how u go about creating a site, etc. I can use photoshop...so I can design banners and such.
Thank you for all your imput, Im taking notes here cause it will help me build this product that will be geared towards the newbies or those that still dont get what they need to know before venturing out. I have many friends that are very skilled in graphics photoshop, directing, have a job in IT but they just dont get the internet marketing side of things......these are also the groups of people I want to target. This is great, keep them coming in as the more info I can get the better the product will be. I can't say when or how I will deliver this but one things for sure, is that this will be a complete guide tutorial in teaching you important concepts, knowing what works and what wont work. The more info that can be put down the better the product I can hopefully create. Thanks again Michael
How long should it take to get the hang of what would be considered basic knowledge in HTML and CSS. I'm reading at the moment and willing to put in the time. I guess I also need to hang out on some of the other pages of the forum, to see how others get over the problems. I feel that marketing information in your guide would be the most rewarding, as long as easy to follow.
I think the biggest noob problem is that they are not willing to experiment and fail in order to learn. YOU GOTTA PAY TO PLAY!
My biggest challenge is to create a list in a new market, especially if adwords is not an option due to high cost per click.
