    Hello folks,
I am new out here and wants some help on exactly how I go about marketing my site.

The said site is in advanced designing and will be up in about a week's time. Can any of you guys please let me know the best way I go about marketing it? It is to be a news-based/focused site with hopefully licensed images.

Besides search engine and adsense submission, what can I do to earn some money from the site. I have heard a lot about backlinks, can anyone please explain ho do I go about it?

    Thanks in advance.:)

Backlinks are links people add on their websites to your site. Technically you get that from search engines, paid listing and from people who loves your website.

You can actually increase your back links by adding your URL in the signature of your posts in forums and as your post count increases, the more back links you get.

Of course the important thing is to get word out to people who may be interested in your site and site content.

Adsense is not a place to advertise your site, it would be Adwords that you should be looking at since that is for advertisers who wants to advertise on google.

If you have finance a full page ad in some magazines or newspapers or even tv ads relating to your contents, it may actually get the word out faster if it attracts them. If you can get some press release or featured in the papers, it may help too. No publicity is bad publicity because the goal is to get you known.

The important thing is not to think about making money at the offset. Make sure that you create the site especially if it is content base to be attractive for people to want to come back.

Jeet and Eddy thanks for the tips.

One thing that has me stumped is the backlinks thing. I do not want to start off making millions, but I do hope for some stable income from the ads on the site. Any sure fire way to do this? I mean I'd love to bother with only the content and not the money (meaning that it must somehow take care of itself!!)

Hopefully with all the help I'm getting on DP , I'll make through!

Expect things to only grow slowly. The Internet is no get rich fast game. If you offer quality content - after you offer quality content - become active in forums related to your content. That will get you some links from other participants and lurkers there - if and only if your content is good.

    I suggest using blogs.

They are natural traffic generators. If you post regularly and have the right plugins, tools etc you can expect to get hundreds of visitors a day within a few days.

This is ultimately the very best way of amrketing your site.

    Hope this helps
