    Hello,

I am new to search engine optimization and I have learned more in one week from this forum than I have learned in two months. However, I have some quetions.:

    1. I get the impression that using SEO software is frowned upon? Why? I used webposition gold. Should I ditch that software? I also read that Google was "anit-webposition." Is that true?

    2. If I get rid of webposition gold. Should I use another submitter, or should I submit my update pages manually?

    3. I know linking is very important, but how do you get inbound links?

    4. My webiste is only 2 weeks old, I get about 6 to 13 unique hits a day. Is there a way I can tell what keywords I am using are working and which are not?

Sorry if my questions seem elementary , but like I said, I new at this.

    Thank you.

You don't need to use a program to continually submit your website to the search engines. This is an old practice that is no longer necessary. The search engines will use incoming links to crawl your website.

There are many ways, but none that are necessarily easy. A good place to start would be submitting your website to some big directories. You can start with a very comprehensive list found here. You can also trade links with other sites, buy links from a broker, submit press releases, etc. The best way to get incoming links on a steady basis is to create content that people will want to link to naturally (and these are the kind of links the search engines prefer).

You should use a website analytics program or log fine analyzer. This will tell you where your visitors are coming from and what keywords they are using. Your host very well may have an analytics program available, or you can use a free system like Statcounter or Google Analytics.

Hope this helps you...welcome to SEO!
