Hey, I've been watching this coop network for a while now and finally decided to spring for it when I noticed someone ported it over to ASP. It's a very cool idea. However, we got stumped on the simple point of getting write permissions for the file that holds the ads. Is there any way to get around that? Could a file be housed on the DP server somewhere that we could get to instead of locally on ours? It would save a lot of trouble with the ISP hosts. Also having trouble autovalidating. Of course that could be because of the writing problem. Or do you actually have to have every single page of the site with the link? We are using a couple different footers and directories so it's kind of a hassle to tweek all of them. There are about 60k pages. Is there someone I could get together with to bounce so PMs back and forth with for tips? Thanks all. Hope to be joining you soon!
The ad_network_ads.txt file was created to cause less requests to the DP server so I do not think that is an option. Have you contacted your host to see if they can setup write permissions for you? You say you use subdirectories on your site so you could signup them (mydomain.com/subdir/ for example) and you would only have to run ads in that subdirectory. If you signup with mydomin.com/ then you must run the ads on all pages.
Most Windows Boxes automatically come set to 777 on the permissions however it sounds like the best thing it have to have the hosting company do it when they can get to it in a week or so..... (It sounds like you have 1 of those)
