Newbie to Link Dev. - Can PR rank go down?

    Hi,

I stumbled on this site and am so thankful that I did. I have a celebrity gossip website and am looking at SEO to help with it's promotion. Currently, I have a PR 6 with Google. I just read that in October, they will be updating these numbers. What would cause your PR ranking to go down? Is that at all possible? Is it something that is out of my control (exp. big sites no longer linking to me etc.)?
    Thanks in advance
    :)

Sure PR can go down but if you continue to have fresh new unique content that is constantly added to your site, the chances are your PR will be maintained or increased

Badly maintained and neglected sites put the chances of the PR going down at risk

Try and keep adding submitting your site to quality sites to increase your links

PR doesn't = high rankings anymore...but in anycase...PR is based off of who links to you, and their PR....adding content won't maintain or increase your PR....unless that new content get's high PR sites to link to you....but again, PR is dead, outdated, inaccurate, and has nothing to do with rankings.

Ofcourse PR can go down. If sites linking to you start using "no-follow" code, or they remove your links, and you don't get new links, your PR will eventually fall. You should keep your websites udpated and get links for it on a regular basis to maintain or increase your PR.

I respectfully disagree. if you add new content, and each of those new content pages links back to your homepage, that will help your pagerank
as long as those subpages are indexed. Which is why when you check your backlinks on the big G it shows both links from other sites mixed in with your own pages.
