Here's some basic tips for article writing newbies on DP. If you follow these simple steps for your PM/Proposal I guarantee you, that you will get more and better paying jobs. 1) Think about what your client needs NOT what you need When you're applying for a job or contacting a client, try to focus on how you can help him/her. Don't write stuff like "I can do this for you" or "I'd really like to write these articles for you". Instead read the job description carefully. Does the client want articles for SEO purposes? To get clicktroughs to a sales page? To get quality content for an authority site? If you can identify the clients needs, don't be afraid to include that in the proposal. Tell them that you know how to write for affiliate pages/adsense/how to. Show that you have at least basic knowledge of the workings of Internet Marketing, SEO etc. 2) Correct grammar and sentence structure No grammar errors are permitted in a job proposal (Yes, I realize there's probably a few mistakes in this post!). If you can't even write 10 sentences without making grammar errors, why should I want to hire you? 3) Sell yourself professionally Show the client that you're serious about your article writing business. Be polite, have an intro to your proposal, show where the client can find more examples of your writing. If you have a user profile on another freelance site, include a link. Here's a basic template for the PM: About Me (A few lines about who you are, polite introduction) About The Job (How you are right for the job) Examples (Links to previous writing jobs) Testimonials (If you have them) Conclusion and Call to Action (Let the client know you're ready to go to work and how to contact you). 4) Justify your price If you have been following the above advice, then your proposal is already better than 90% of DP writers. Don't be afraid to set your price higher. Set your price higher than what you will accept as minimum, but not at an unrealistic level. 5) Get testimonials not just iTrader After you got the job by following 1-4, get a testimonial. Itrader doesn't mean anything. After you have delivered kick ass content, make sure to get some feedback. Post this in your thread or keep it in a separate file to show prospects.
I would like to add one more 6.) Always keep an ear open to Client's change requests I have observed so many people who just block their IMs and get on to the business once they think that everything is confirmed. There are no change requests being acknowledged. So, when you start the gig, please keep your doors open for client's new requests or any additions. Go that extra mile to prove that you are reliable and flexible.
I like the number 2 rule. It really make sense. It just shows your unprofessional when you get paid and you can't even make a good words with right grammar into the application.
nice tips, the most important thing you can do is selling your self. that's is the only thing you have to sell. the client should say yes after asking : is this guy worth it? once you do that , the rest is easy.
