You can get local traffic by being featured on one of the major news websites in your local area or if you get some backlinks from the local site. For example if CBS has a local channel in your area, if you can get a local backlink from the site it will be beneficial for you. Also Good Content is considered any post that you may have that has at least 300 words.

Good content is, has and likely always will be hand written by a native speaker. Bad content would be auto generated, spun content or duplicate content from elsewhere.

Google always likes how to article, if you can write any how to articles related to dry cleaner I think you can get good "good content" exposure in google. but I still think good content is not all when seo is considered, back links is the most imp, it has always been the topic of debate whether content is king or seo, I say seo but both are highly related, good seo is nothing with spun content good content is nothing with low seo, so it is upto you, on which you want to focus more,

if you can upload a blog in your business website it may give your website good exposure, just a suggestion from newbie,

To increase visibility in local search results you may use Geo Sitemap Generator, follow the instructions there and then upload your geo sitemap's URL in Google Webmaster Tools (Site Configuration -> Sitemaps).
Also go for on-page optimization: optimize title tags and meta descriptions locally and make sure they have both your primary keywords and areas your business operates included.
Also, add street address and phone number to all pages of your site, because it's a good signal for search engines to index you in local search results.
Moreover, you may add Google map with exact locations of your stores.
Another thing to do is to set up your Facebook page as a Local Business category and enter your contact details there (and set up Google+ account in the same way).

Who said "dry cleaner" is a mundane topic? You can come up with great content in the form of tips, how tos and other information. The added benefit for your niche is that you can create all types of media such as the infographics, images, articles, videos etc.
