    Hi,

I'm trying to get my self started as a freelancer in Lincolnshire, UK, concentrating on WordPress and Prestashop themes, especially those which complement each other. I've managed to get a couple of free themes put together, but am finding it difficult to get any traction for them, so I'd be more than grateful for any advice.

I'm also trying to start up designing and running websites for small businesses in my locality.

Welcome to the forum. Your best chance might be to start with your local connections and build a reputation there. Nothing replaces word of mouth advertising

Thanks Nima, that's exactly what I'm trying to do with the website management side (I've persuaded my 14 year old daughter at a frankly ludicrous commission rate to go around all the small businesses in the local area to work out who has a website and who hasn't). Any advice on how to leverage theme sales would also be appreciated.

By the time you're done paying out your commission you won't have enough funds left over to get anything going. The only one that will come out well in this, will be your daughter.;)
    Welcome to DP.
