I have apache on a fedora server at home on a dynamic ip (dyndns.org manages this for me), www.myname.ath.cx and this works fine.

I have registered my own name www.myname.com which is parked with a provider.

When someone goes www.myname.com it is redirected to www.myname.ath.cx

can I use rewrite some how on my apache server so that their browser says www.myname.com and not www.myname.ath.cx?

    thanks

no. you can't. ( just image that I can register a domain and make it
looking as microsoft in users browsers:) )

Since you can't use myname. com directly, you will have to use that second domain at dyndns.org .
But I am not sure why dyndns.org can't use your domainmyname. com without making redirects. Please ask them.
