    Hello Forum!

First of all, I'd like to say that this forum has been wonderful for me, full of information!

    Now on to my questions,

About 2 days ago, I was reading about Amazon Affiliates, I found it very interesting and found out that you can really make a good chunk of change each month.

So I went out and bought a domain name, uploaded WordPress on that puppy, installed an Amazon plugin, and started posting away. I'm selling all electronic items.

    Question is:
    1. My domain name has nothing to do with my website, it really means nothing, Will that hurt my traffic?

    2. Is getting manufacturer description of the product, specs, and announce the average customer rating enough for people? Or do they need PERSONAL reviews on the product as if I have it myself?

    Thanks, Appreciate it!

    1. I think no. I prefer short brandable domain names that are easy to remember. However, having a domain name with your keywords in it could be helpful for some people (I mean someone might rather click on a domain name in the search results that contains the keywords).

    2. I think personal reviews are always better, but I'm not 100% sure, as I'm quite new to Amazon.

    1) It is not the end of the world, and if its brandable then its fine. But if your domain is www.pinkaprons.com and you are trying to promote LCD Televisions then you have a problem...

    2) This depends on the niche... what would you want to know if you were buying the product? If it is printer cartrdiges then you don't need personal reviews, but you do need to know it will work with your printer, how long it will last etc.

I think it might not hurt your traffic. But it's better if the domain closely matched to that you want to promoting.
In case your second question, I just tell one thing that all details need for products depends on product types. Almost there is no need for personal reviews.
For an example, You need an IC Engine then you must need specifications.
    That's all.

When it comes to domains I try to get exact search keyword domains. So depending on your niche I will search for a domain that might have my top keywords and sometimes you get lucky. Cause its a lot of free traffic if you can reg a domain that has a exact keyword match. Also next step is building quality backlinks to increase your ranking.

The domain could go one of two ways:

It is easily brandable and it in turn helps you out.

    Or

It isn't extraordinarily brandable, in which case you lose traffic because you could have gotten a domain name that was Keyword Friendly.

To strengthen your SEO efforts answer these questions:

    1. What kind of Theme are you using for WordPress?
Genesis and Prose from StudioPress offer the most important On Page SEO efforts built in. You just fill in the blanks.

    2. Are you an experienced web developer? Validating your code can help improve your page load time and increase your image in the eyes of the Search Engines.

    3. Do you have any SEO plugins? Be aware that not all plug ins do what they say they do. Pay attention to the credibility of the author and only get plugins you absolutely need. Plugins can bog down your WordPress site, causing it to load slower. Slow load times kill Google Rankings and are bad for the end user.
