Okay, I have NO knowledge about copywriting except for the flashes I see in the last post on forums.

I am pretty embarrassed to ask a question like this but hey, you won't learn without asking questions.

I am writing an ebook about getting into college.

Do I need any sort of copywriting to make sure my content isn't stolen or copywriting isn't for stuff like that?

I believe what you are asking is not about 'copywriting' but rather 'copyright'.

Generally contents are automatically comes with copyright if you are the original owner but it may be difficult to provide evidences if the content comes into dispute.

    Maybe this would help http://www.uspto.gov/smallbusiness/copyrights/faq.html
