i've got a new website - pr 0 and no backlinks. as such, i believe the weight will be 0?

if so, will it be beneficial for this new site to join the coop? so should i wait until there is pr and some backlinks?

    thanks!

As far as i know Coop is looking for pages indexed in google. Yeah PR improves your weight. But the important factor is the number of pages you are showing ads, that is indexed in google.

thanks for your answer. since it's a new site, there are no pages indexed by google yet...

will my ads appear in the coop sites?

not yet. It's not such a bad idea to start now and let it grow. As soon as you get indexed, you'll get some weight and they'll start showing up. If you are using a blog, add it to your my.yahoo.com rss feed and you'll get at least the home page indexed within a few days. Otherwise, link to your site from your blog and the spiders will probably hit it up pretty quickly as well. Obviously you have to start earning some keyword ranking on your own to up your indexed page count, so if you are using the keyword suggestion tool, find some in your niche that are very uncompetitive and then grow yourself into the more competitive terms. It's a never ending re-cycling game.

You could also equate it to D&D - right now you are a level 1 cleric. You have to go on a few more adventures before you can use the digital point magic item and as you gain in levels it becomes much more powerful. Just remember, no cleric was ever any good at D&D if they only had 1 magic item in their bag.

Also, check out ping-o-matic for your blog. It's a handy dandy pinging tool that will provide you with potentially some more traffic.
