how can i tell if a domain name will be successful? and also what methods could i use? currently i am searching for available domains, then seeing how many google search results come up and then using a tool at overture.com to see how many people search it. is this tactic getting me nowhere? i am finding it really difficult to judge if a name will be good or not. example: netsurf.mobi sounds like a good domain to me, possibly worth quite a bit of money (whether it is registered or not is here nor there), how would i go about seeing if what i think is correct? any help to a beginner much appreciated guys. cheers
Domain name is only as good as page rank and site on that domain name. You can buy all the domain names you want but the site needs to have links to it and be ranked by google to be worth anything. Keyword research is good idea and just use some terms you like for domain name. You will have hard time getting some names so mix words up. If your just trying to buy domain names and sell them good luck because most names are taken and alot of domains names come and go every year. Just use a keyword for the site your making and work on getting links and useing correct meta tags and keywords. that is what is worth the money. When site is up and running and is ranked well in google.
Hard work on any domain can make it successful. However, a short, brandable, pronounceable, seo friendly domain has more chances to become profitable in less time.
