    Dear all,

I'm currently working on my first web site. The site would be ready in the coming weeks. I'm planning to use AdSense as some sort of revenue. I would like your advice on the following question: should I apply for AdSense as soon as the site goes live, _or_ should I wait some time and let the site gain some popularity and only then apply ? Infact, does Google checks how popular a given site is, before accepting it to AdSense ?

    Thanks is advance,
    Vince

    Welcome to the board!

Is this your first site? Do you have another site you could show them?

You would be best waiting a long time to let your site get some traffic and natural citations before you add any sort of adverts. I would even wait over a year.

People will be more likely to link to your site if its advert free.

Yes and as i always advice the newbies .... i have seen many guys getting into trouble...so in advance ."Google is too much wise"....so always be careful with adsense.

And yes you can probably wait for few months before placing adsense. The best thing to follow is to make the website a nice one and submit into some directories and get some good backlinks. If you have no adsense then more people will be willing to exchange links with you. Once you are getting enough traffic the put little adsense. You will surely see income.

    regards

I agree with other posters. Let your site mature some especially if it is on a new domain. Spend time on creating quality content and getting backlinks.

    Hi,

Google will approve your application for adsense as long as you agree, and fit, their terms of service.

You can read their TOS at google.com/adsense

You don't have to wait to put on the adsense code, if your site is visible under construction some people may hit the ads. On the other hand, adsense uses the content from your pages to make the advertisements relevant, you should write at least that much before you place the code in the pages.

    Be$t of luck!
