    haha!!

    I am a newbie also.

As I know, backlink means that there is a <a href="your-domainname.com">your web site's description</a> on other web site.

A backlink for your website is simply a link from another site pointing to your website. For example, this HTML code
    <a href="http://www.google.com">G</a>
    Code (markup):
if placed on your web page, creates a backlink for Google.

A backlink is a link from another website linking to your website.

Keyword anchor backlink is when a specific keyword is used to link to your site.
So when your site is about ''dogs'' then the link would look like dogs and would therefor indicate for the Search Engines that your site holds relevance to the subject dogs.

    Hope that helped.

What you can do to increase the backlink are(what I do):

1: submit your site to Directory( like my directory site... ha ha)
    2. reply the forum(include your site in signature-- you have done on DP)
    3. write article and submit them to article dirctory
    4. email other site's webmaster to exhange the link(Your site should have a link page also.
    4. submit your site to search engine.

There are many other ways you can do.

These are just the way I am doing.

Thanks for the info. I have been submitting my site to directories and I do have a resources page which I plan on adding more to as well. Now I understand this very 'technical' term. ;)

Submit your link to related directory. Get backlinks from quality websites with high PR. Choose carefully what site you choose to submit your site, you might get penalized linking to bad websites:)
