I picked up a dropped domain with some backlinks that gets about 50 or so uniques a month. I currently have it on Parked and I get a very poor click-thru rate (because their page isn't very good despite my best efforts to improve it) and only about 18 cents on the few searches that do get made. Basically, I'm earning nothing. I found an Affiliate Program out there with a really nice site that pays a flat 7% commission on any purchase referral business. With that said, I was wondering if it would be ethical to set-up an affiliate account and simply forward all of my incoming traffic directly to that page? I know I would probably make a lot more money and the Affiliate would no be getting ripped-off because they pay solely on completed sales transactions, not traffic. Btw, I have no interest in eventually developing the domain into a site. I'm not even entirely sure why I picked up in the first place, to be honest. It's a maternity site. Thanks.
Yes it ethical and its a common practice make by lot of marketer. And to further increase your sales, you must do some link building and promotion
It is necessary to do link building to generate sales, because in the end the traffic is who purchases the product
Do the exactly effective method that can increase visitor to your webpage, blog or anything. Good product+high traffic=Money
No problem with this kind of traffic building. redirects from dead domains with traffic can jumpstart your traffic so why not? Where did you pick up the dead domain? I might get into doing that a bit more to boost my traffic.
Ryder: 1. Buy a cheap hosting plan for e.x $1-$5 / month 2. Make a briefly & honest review of that maternity website and then redirect from that single webpage to the website through your affiliate link 3. Start building traffic into that website. You said that you already have some backlinks. However have you ever wondered all these people that comes from the incoming links what are looking for? Give them exactly that. So for example if the website has incoming links "blue maternity jeans" offer them blue maternity jeans. No maternity clothes or maternity wear. Hope that helps
Ryder If you are not using ClickBank check it out for products that fit your niche market. Some affiliate program pay a 50% commission, but 7% on a high ticket item can bring in a nice steady monthly income.
