Newbie question. Paid on non product specific items?

If I place a product specific ad on my site, and someone clicks it, if they don't buy the specific product, but buy something else, will I still get paid?

For example I have an ad pointing to a book, what if the visitor didn't buy the book, but bought a USB flash drive instead, would I get paid a commission on the flash drive?

    Thanks for any answers.

As long as they click your amazon link with your ID and it's still under 24 hours, you still get the commission. That often happens to me :)

I think, in that case, no, you will not get paid. But if the USB Flash Drive is your ID, then the answer is yes.
You can refer to Amazon Q&A.
