Newbie Question: How do I optimize for a specific keyword?

    Hey,
How do I start optimizing for keywords if I'm using a Wordpress cms? Is it just using keywords for each post and adding image alt tags and stuff like that? What else do I need to do?

I guess these questions are kinda unfocused but I'm not sure where I'm supposed to start.

    Thanks in advance,

Your optimization strategy depends on the objectives that you define for your campaigns.

The first thing to do is to identify your keywords related to the area of interest or based on niche, in order to see how much competition they will find in search engines listings . And they used SEO Keywords Tool

First thing which you have to decide is what is your targeted keyword then you have to check the competition. If the competition is too high then its difficult to get a good ranking fast in the major search engines and on the other hand if the competition is too low then you hardly get any traffic so choose your keywords accordingly.

Use google adwords for keyword analysis.

    Thanks

one quick suggestion is focus on one keyword at a time, and build up one at a time rather than trying to tackle dozens at a time. To help you discover the keywords that you should be using there are many keyword tools
the tool is provided by google and can be found by google searching "google keyword tool"

    I hope this helps

Totally agree. It's best to focus on one keyword and get that one ranked #1 then go back and starting ranking for other long tail keywords.
