[Newbie Question] Buying Proxies?

    Can someone please explain to me what the use is for buying proxies is? Is it to browse the internet anonymously? How do they work?

    I've been wondering the same thing, and why are there so many of them?/why do people want to create lots of proxies?

    When using a proxy you get a new IP address and may browse sites blocked by school or work filters.

    Also owning a proxy can generate income using adsense.
